COMPUNIGMA RELEASES FILE ERASING FREEWARE STAND-ALONE UTILITY

January 14, 2008 -- COMPUNIGMA ANNOUNCES END OF DESIGN-PHASE FOR PROJECT KNOX

MONTREAL, QC -- Compunigma, a Montreal-based IT enterprise, announced today that the design phase for its documentation, filing and sharing application, codename Knox, has reached its conclusive end.

"The feasibility studies conducted throughout the last year have ended on a very positive note," said Compunigma's president Viken Aprahamian. "The solutions developed by the design team have been proved practical and very competitive. Compunigma will now focus on the next phase, that is, the implementation of the solutions in specific software packages designed for public release."

Compunigma plans to implement the Knox solutions in a family of applications. The first on to be released will be a Personal version, with the Workgroup and Enterprise versions following soon after. A special high security version will be released for special customers. Its enhanced security will probably be based on the Compunigma key system, which currently has a 524,288 bit strong encryption and is slated to be augmented to 137Mbits in the course of the next decade.

November 10, 2004 -- COMPUNIGMA RELEASES FILE ERASING FREEWARE STAND-ALONE UTILITY

MONTREAL, QC -- Compunigma, a Montreal-based IT enterprise, announced today that it has released its secure file erasing ZAP 1.0 application as freeware. ZAP 1.0 is a simple utility program that runs on any 32-bit MS Windows platform and enables the user to delete files safely -- safe in the sense of denying any subsequent reconstitution of the erased data.

"In the multitude of apparently similar applications that abound on today's software market, Compunigma ZAP has some properties that make it unique. ZAP is a stand-alone application with no installation required. Just place a copy of ZAP on your desktop, and run it. You can use it on any computer that you have access to, without having to have administrative privileges that are usually required when you have to install a program. It can also run from any removable media (diskette, CD, etc), so you can always have a working copy of ZAP available wherever you go," explained Compunigma's president Viken Aprahamian. "The ZAP interface permits working in batches, with files from different folders selected for deletion and deleted in a single operation. Having no practical limit on the number of files that can thus be batched together, ZAP can perform lengthy operations in the background, while the user is performing more productive tasks," added Aprahamian.

Information in files deleted with ZAP will be lost permanently with no simple means of recovery, unless you have access to a specially equipped laboratory that can take the disk apart and perform some very advanced (and mostly classified) techniques like Magnetic Force Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy. The data on the file is overwritten three times (triple-wipe) with different values at each pass, and the code is designed in a way to force the physical writing of the data on disk in order to prevent the interference of any caching mechanism enabled at the OS level with the wiping process.

Compunigma ZAP 1.0 can be downloaded from the Compunigma security department website (http://secur.compunigma.com). It is available in either English or French.
